Privacy
What the site keeps, what it sends to the AI, and how your API key is protected.
Your data
Your cars, setups, sessions and questions are visible only to you.
Tracks and layouts are public. Every track, with its name, surface, notes, photo, location (address, map position, website, phone) and its layouts with their notes and images, can be seen and used by every driver, so the same track is not added twice. Your name and e-mail are never shown with it. Only the driver who added a track edits it.
Manual links you add to a car model are shown to every driver with that model, without your name. The site keeps only the link, never the manual itself.
Setups are private unless you press Share on a setup version. A shared version shows other drivers, on that layout's page, your car model, the setup values, your comment on the version, the conditions it was run in and what the car ran with (motor, ESC, tyres, temperature), and they can copy it for their own car. It never shows your name, e-mail, the PDF you uploaded, or your questions and answers. Press Shared ✓ to make it private again.
To give better advice, the site learns from rated answers: when a driver marks advice as better, no change or worse after testing, that result (car model, surface, grip, the problem, the suggested changes and the feedback note) may be given to the AI, without any name or e-mail, when another driver asks about a similar problem with a car of the same class. Other drivers never see your questions, answers or notes.
AI answers
AI answers and setup-sheet reading are done by Anthropic's Claude models. For each one, the site sends Anthropic what the answer needs: your car and its setup values, the track and session conditions, your question and earlier answers for that car and track, and the anonymous results described above. It never sends your name or e-mail. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, data sent through the API is not used to train their models.
Your own API key
If you add your own Anthropic API key on My AI key:
- It is checked with Anthropic for free and then stored encrypted (ASP.NET Core Data Protection, AES-256). The plain key is never written to the database, the logs or the page; only its last 4 characters are shown.
- The encryption keys are kept apart from the drivers' keys and are themselves locked to the web server (Windows DPAPI), so a copy of the database alone cannot be used to read your key.
- It is used only for your own questions and setup sheets, and is checked for free each time you sign in. The site records what it spent with it, so you can see your balance.
- Anthropic bills those calls to your account. Setting a monthly spend limit at console.anthropic.com → Settings → Limits caps what any key can cost you.
- You can delete it at any time with Delete my key, and it is deleted with your account. To stop it working everywhere, also delete it at console.anthropic.com → Settings → API Keys.
- If the site moves to another server, stored keys can no longer be decrypted and you will be asked to enter yours again.
Without your own key, answers use the site's key up to a monthly amount per driver, then your credits (if you bought any), then the free rules answers.
Credits and payments
- Credit packs on Credits are paid through PayPal. You pay on PayPal's own window: this site never sees or stores your card or PayPal login.
- From PayPal we keep only the order and payment ids, the amount, the currency and the time, so a payment can be checked and is never credited twice. Credits are added only after PayPal confirms the payment to the server.
- Every AI call is logged with your account: what it was for, the model, the tokens, its cost and who paid (your key, the free amount or your credits). You see your own on the Credits page; the log is used to settle disputes and to set prices.
- Before a paid answer, the most it can cost is set aside from your credits; after it, only the real cost is kept and the rest goes back. Your balance never goes below zero.
- Credits don't expire and are deleted with your account. PayPal's own handling of your payment is covered by PayPal's privacy statement.
